How We Avoided Amblyopia HomeThis is a featured page

Our child has strabismus and early in his treatment our eye doctor began treating him for amblyopia or “lazy eye” as these two eye problems are often seen together.

We actually went through more than 1 ophthalmologist (eye doctor) on our journey with strabismus. While our son never displayed the symptoms of amblyopia, we feel that our first doctor’s recommendation to use eye patch therapy probably prevented our cross eyed baby from ever developing lazy eye.

In the end, our child underwent eye surgery (actually eye muscle surgery) 4 times over the course of 2 years. His treatment, his recovery, and our family’s journey is now viewed as one of the great untold inspirational stories around. Now a documented story, we hope to share our experience with the rest of the world and we are happy to emotionally support others in similar situations.
